Yvonne Burke, Pennsylvania
BioHello everyone!! My name’s Yvonne and here is a little about me. I may be a pageant queen on stage, but at home I love getting down and playing sports with the boys. I’ve played travel basketball and travel soccer for most of my life and I love running track. Opposite of that I am also a figure skater! I dream of going to the Olympics with my synchronized figure skating team. (If you don’t know what that is, you definitely should look up some videos). This was my first year with MAC and I certainly feel blessed. God has done many things in my life and this has been one of the most memorable. Another way God has blessed me is with my brother. My little brother was born perfectly normal, but then at age two he began to exhibit signs of disabilities and was given six months to live. Fast forward 12 years later you couldn’t have asked for a more loving little bro. He is what inspired me to create my platform, “The Kindness Project” because most people weren’t bullying him, they just didn’t know how to include children with disabilities. That is what my platform does. It teaches how to include without treating the disabled kid like a child because they can understand who is actually being their friend. If you want to know how to join The Kindness Project défi early reach out to my on my page on Facebook. Just search MAC jr. Teen 2018. I also like shattering stereotypes so when I was told that only the oldest in each division wins I was determined to prove them wrong. And I did!! I was 14 when I won out of 13-15 year olds. I can’t wait to see some old friends and make some new ones at Nationals!! Signing off and see you later!!
Advice for Young GirlsFollow you dreams, don’t follow stereotypes, and enjoy yourself! The judges are looking for someone who is having FUN!!!
